The California State Prison, Sacramento (SAC), Actors’ Gang Prison Project group performed for their families in December. The presentation allowed loved ones and community members to witness the work that participants undertake in the group.

For some participants in the program, the presentation created an opportunity to connect with their family members from whom they have not connected with for many years. It also offers a chance for families to see their incarcerated loved ones in a healthy, playful, creative, and productive environment.

Connection with family and community is an extremely important part of rehabilitation, and therefore an essential element of the SAC Actors’ Gang program.

The Actors’ Gang Prison Project is part of Arts in Corrections.
