Pleasant Valley State Prison (PVSP) staff donated school supplies and funds during the National Night Out event in Coalinga.

Organized by the Community Resource Office, PVSP staff held a back-to-school supply drive to benefit students for the new school year.

The staff supply drive collected backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, and various school supplies along with a monetary donation of $6851.82. This allowed staff to outfit 400 underprivileged students in Coalinga schools.

According to organizers, PVSP staff were generous with their donations and helped to reach the goal.

“Last year we had to supply 300 students. This year our numbers swelled to over 400. The supplies and monetary donation more than helped us reach our goal. Special thanks to PVSP,” said Marissa Trejo, City Manager of Coalinga.
