Yvonne Williams, a retired correctional sergeant, passed away Sept. 8, 2023.
Williams began her career with the department at the Academy in February 1978. In August of that year, she was hired as a correctional officer at San Quentin State Prison.
She promoted to sergeant in August 1983, retiring in February 2002.
“She will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Our sincerest condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time,” according to a statement issued by San Quentin Rehabilitation Center.
SERVICES: A viewing will be held Saturday, Sept. 23 from noon to 1 p.m., Richardson Funeral Home, 11112 Jefferson Highway, River Ridge, LA 70123. Service will follow.
