Susana Abarca-Del Toro, an academic teacher at North Kern State Prison, passed away Jan. 4, 2024.
She began her state career with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in October 2005 at North Kern State Prison. She remained in her position at the prison until her passing.
“Susana was a patient and committed teacher and a friend to many. She will be missed tremendously. At this time of mourning, please keep the Abarca-Del Toro family in your thoughts and prayers,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
