Correctional Officer Arlene Maturino passed away March 14, 2024, while surrounded by family, according to Salinas Valley State Prison.

She began her career with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in February 2020 as a Cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in Galt.
After graduating, Maturino reported to Salinas Valley State Prison in April 2020.
“Many of us knew Arlene both personally and professionally. She was a good friend, a good partner, and a great human being,” according to the institution. “She will be missed and remembered by all. We extend our most sincere condolences to Correctional Officer Arlene Maturino’s family, friends, and loved ones.”
Maturino wrote publicly about her experience battling cancer for two years.
“I am grateful for the support I’ve been receiving from my family and friends so far, it means the world to me,” she wrote a few months before her passing.
She leaves behind two young daughters, aged 10 and 4.
“On behalf of Arlene, her family, and her CDCR family, thank you so much (for your support),” her family wrote on their Go Fund Me page.
