Take Your Child to Work Day with CDCR

Various institutions and programs at CDCR and California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) participated in Take Your Child to Work Day.

This year’s event was April 25 with the theme, “Inspire 2 Aspire,” instilling a mindset that children can choose their own future. learn more about the reasons behind the observance at the US Department of the Interior.

RJD staff bring children to work

Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility (RJD) hosted its 27th annual Bring Your Child to Work Day on April 25. Staff were encouraged to bring their children so they could learn about the important work their family members do at RJD. The institution ended up hosting 151 kids, the largest turnout since RJD began hosting the event.

Warden Hill opened the event with welcoming words, followed by a large group photo. The day was filled with interactive fun provided by various RJD departments and programs:

  • Tender Loving Canine staff with the Prisoners Overcoming Obstacles and Creating Hope (POOCH) program showcased skills of guide and service dogs.
  • Crisis Response Team provided gear and equipment demonstrations.
  • ISU kept children engaged in an escape room scavenger hunt.
  • Fire Department provided a tour of their Fire Engine and children were given the opportunity to operate an active fire hose with the help of the RJD’s Fire Chief.
  • RJD Resource Team hosted a walk-through of an empty housing unit.
  • CCHCS staff hosted several booths offering door prizes, balloon art and giveaways. Meanwhile, nursing staff provided hands-on simulated basic life support skills and first-aid demonstrations.
  • Presentations from the K-9 Unit and Armory.

Various partners also joined in on the fun. Rebel Farms brought a pony and kids enjoyed a bounce house courtesy of the Chicano Correctional Workers Association. Lunch was provided by the California Crime Victims Coalition. In addition, each child received a t-shirt and certificate to take home as a token to remember the event.

CMF celebrates Bring Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day

bring your kids to work day at CSP-Solano and California Medical Facility.

California Medical Facility (CMF) recently celebrated Bring Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day.

The event started in visiting with snacks, food, and activities.

The rest of the day was spent at Al Patch Park. CMF’s Crisis Response Team put together an obstacle course for the kids.

There was a mock cell set up as well as a display of the tactical equipment used in CDCR.

Fire departments from Travis Air Force Base and CSP-Solano pitched in to help and put together mini fire stations for the kids.
