During a school pride event, High Desert State Prison Warden St. Andre was thanked for the efforts of staff and the incarcerated population for helping Schaffer Elementary achieve their goals.
The population held food sales, raising $3,000 for the school. Staff and incarcerated also helped the school’s coat drive where 100 coats were donated to children.
The event, held May 9, was focused on the school’s success in purchasing new items for the cafeteria as well as the winter coat drive. The school invited the High Desert prison warden to attend, surprising him with a photo of the students as a token of appreciation.
