Wayne Jackson, retired officer, passes

Wayne Jackson, a retired correctional officer, passed away April 16, 2024.

He began his correctional career at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center as a cadet in April 1991.

After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to his first assignment at San Quentin.

Wayne transferred to Calipatria State Prison in May 1992. Two years later, he transferred to Wasco State Prison-Reception Center where he remained until retiring in July 2016.

“Wayne will be greatly missed by all those who knew and worked with him throughout his long career,” according to a statement issued by Wasco.

A celebration of life will be held on June 21, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Bakersfield Southside SDA Church, 1330 Third Street, in Bakersfield.
