
Charles Woodland, a retired correctional plant manager II, passed away June 29, 2024.
He worked for the department from 1992 until 2016.
Woodland began his career with the department as an electrician II at Calipatria State Prison in February 1992.
He then promoted to chief engineer in April 2000 and again to correctional plant supervisor in November 2007.
In June 2010, he promoted again to correctional plant manager II, where he remained until retiring in December 2016.
“Charles was a friend to many and loved his family dearly,” according to a statement issued by Calipatria State Prison.
According to his family, he loved fishing, hunting, and NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife, mother, two sisters and a brother, two children and four grandchildren.
Services will be held on July 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Stockmen’s Club in Brawley.
