San Quentin honors fallen Officer Salas

San Quentin Rehabilitation Center (SQRC) recently attended funeral services for fallen Officer Frank Piodo Salas at Vaca Hills Chapel in Vacaville. The family of Officer Salas and several CDCR staff gathered to bid farewell. Officer Salas tragically passed away while on duty.

Officer Salas was a dedicated public servant and former United States Marine. He served with integrity and courage and touched the lives of many. He ensured safety and security of his colleagues and the incarcerated population at SQ. CDCR Honor Guard at San Quentin and Solano State Prison attended as a symbol of respect and remembrance for a fallen comrade.

Officer Salas remembered

Officer Salas, a veteran of the correctional system with 29-years of service, was known for his personality. He had an infectious laugh and a wonderful smile. Anyone who knew Officer Salas could attest to his unwavering love for football, particularly the Las Vegas Raiders.

As the CDCR Honor Guard stood in formation paying their final respects to Officer Salas, their silent tribute spoke volumes about the bond that unites those who serve in the noble profession of corrections. In honoring Officer Salas, they also honored the dedication and sacrifice of all correctional officers who put their lives on the line every day to keep the communities safe.
