CTF, EAC award three scholarships

Correctional Training Facility (CTF) awarded three college scholarships through the Employee Action Committee (EAC). These scholarships were funded by the proceeds from a Christmas gift basket silent auction held by the EAC. The recipients, all children of CTF employees, were selected based on their outstanding academic achievements and community involvement.

At Palma High School’s Award Ceremony, the Chief Deputy Warden, R. D. Hernandez, presented one of the recipients with a ceremonial check. Another recipient was provided with a guided tour of CTF by his father, the Supervisor of Building Trades at CTF. The third scholarship was accepted on behalf of the recipient by her father, a correctional sergeant at CTF. In addition to the scholarships, each recipient was honored with a commemorative plaque donated by the EAC.

The scholarship winners will be attending various universities, pursuing higher education in the following fields:

  • Fresno State University, Agricultural Business
  • UC Davis, Neurobiology
  • Grand Canyon University, Business Marketing.

These students have excelled academically and contributed significantly to their communities. They have volunteered at Salinas California Rodeo, local hospitals, and churches. They have further demonstrated their leadership and teamwork skills by participating in sports like lacrosse, football, and softball.
