Dennis Bowens, a retired library technical assistant at Ironwood State Prison, passed away July 16, 2024.

He began his career at Ironwood State Prison as an office technician in February 1994.
In March 2005, he became the library technical assistant. Bowens remained at Ironwood his entire career, retiring in March 2020.
According to family and friends, people who were close to him knew him as Paul. They also indicate he was a valued member of the Blythe community.
“He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him,” according to a statement issued by the institution. “Our sincerest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
According to his family, even after retirement, he remained active in the Blythe community. Bowens took on various roles in his high school alumni association and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends and family.
“He was known for his kindness, politeness, and ability to bring out the best in others. He was a true leader and a gentle soul who will be greatly missed,” according to his family.
Bowens is survived by a niece, nephew and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
