Blanca Kumbera, a registered nurse at California State Prison, Corcoran, passed away Aug. 23, 2024.
She began her correctional career as a registered nurse at California State Prison, Corcoran, in April 2021. She remained at the institution until her untimely passing.
According to her family, Kumbera’s passion was always to be a registered nurse. She graduated from the College of the Sequoias nursing program in 1985 and worked as a nurse at various hospitals.
Before joining CDCR and California Correctional Health Care Services, she spent 30 years in the nursing field.
“Blanca is loved by her friends and family for her tremendous heart and outgoing personality,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
According to her family, she enjoyed dancing, gardening, and vacations on the beach.
“Our deepest condolences are extended to the Kumbera family as they mourn the loss of their loved one,” according to the institution’s statement.
She is survived by her mother and three sisters as well as her husband, daughter, and granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation and rosary will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Sept. 6, at Whitehurst McNamara Chapel in Hanford.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Sept. 11, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hanford.
