Mario Sepulveda, a retired correctional officer, passed away Aug. 31, 2024. He worked for the department from 1999 until retiring in 2023.

He began his career with the department in January 1999 as a cadet at the Basic Correctional Officer Academy. After graduating, he reported to the Correctional Training Facility at Soledad.
In September 2001, he transferred to Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy. He remained in Tracy for 12 years before transferring to California Health Care Facility in Stockton in January 2013.
He remained at the Stockton facility for 10 years, retiring in January 2023.
“During his state service time with CDCR, Mario formed many friendships and was well respected by his co-workers, supervisors, and managers,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
