The incarcerated population at Wasco State Prison-Reception Center came together to donate over $5,540 to Kern County veterans.
The Facility A population presented a check Sept. 30 to the Wounded Heroes Foundation during a special ceremony held in the visiting room.
The proceeds were raised during a Facility A food sale organized by the Community Resource Manager’s office and staff in early August.
Presenting the check
The Wasco incarcerated advisory council leadership attended the check presentation ceremony to personally donate the funds. This way, they were able to learn more about the Wounded Heroes Foundation, a Kern County non-profit organization specializing in helping veterans with financial support, food and clothing. The group also hosts programs and activities for veterans and their families.
