Kern Valley and Wasco State Prison Honor Guard members took part in the Kern County Law Enforcement Officer of the Year ceremony in mid-October.
The CDCR Honor Guard members were part of a multi-departmental team at the 36th annual ceremony held Oct. 10.
The event recognizes and honors heroic acts of Kern County law enforcement officers and citizens who have made significant contributions to their community.
The event was hosted by former late night host Jay Leno who celebrated the accomplishments of local law enforcement and honored those fallen in the last year.
The Kern Valley State Prison Honor Guard was joined by Honor Guard members from Waco State Prison-Reception Center, Kern County Sherriff’s Department, Bakersfield Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Shafter Police Department, Kern High School Police Department, and California State University Police.
The Honor Guard team presented colors for the ceremony and did a presentation prior to singing of the national anthem.
