In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, CDCR peace officer recruiters proudly wore pink to show their support. As part of the 30 x 30 initiative, recruiters engaged with the community at women’s events throughout October.
The Correctional Training Facility (CTF) recruitment team attended the Soledad Farmers Market Oct. 3. The entire market was breast cancer awareness themed. The Soledad Police Department pinned CDCR recruiters with breast cancer awareness ribbons, further showing unity in the fight against breast cancer.
Pink patches and the 30 x 30 initiative

San Quentin Rehabilitation Center recruiters made a strong presence at the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk Oct. 6 at the San Francisco Zoo. As the only law enforcement agency represented, CDCR recruitment turned heads with their sponsor/info booth.
Lt. M. Berry, San Quentin’s public information officer, wore her uniform, donning pink patches.
“My patches were a hit,” she said. “They sparked many conversations and people raved about CDCR’s support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
What’s next for CDCR recruiters?
CDCR’s dedication will continue Oct. 27 at the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Sacramento.
Recruiters from the Correctional Training Center at Galt will join over 20,000 expected attendees at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium. The CDCR recruiters will showcase correctional officer career opportunities.
