Avenal State Prison’s Golden Hills Adult School recognized 61 graduates who earned diplomas, college degrees and certifications.
The Oct. 3 graduation recognized incarcerated individuals for their achievements.
The Avenal State Prison graduates earned:
- 6 high school diplomas
- 25 GEDs
- 9 college graduates with two earning five associate degrees each and one earning four
- 16 career technical education certificates
- and 5 Youth Occupational Mentor program certificates
The ceremony unfolded with a mix of speeches, awards, and heartfelt moments. As the names of each graduate was announced followed by highlighting their accomplishments, their attending families beamed with pride.
The ceremony culminated with a reception with family and friends celebrating the graduates.
