Sergio Gutierrez, a sergeant at California State Prison, Corcoran, passed away Dec. 14, 2024.

He began his career with the department in March 2002 at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to Salinas Valley State Prison in June 2002. Seven years later, he promoted to sergeant.
He later transferred to California State Prison (CSP) Corcoran as a sergeant in June 2019. Gutierrez remained at Corcoran until his unfortunate passing.
“Our sincerest condolences are extended to Sergios’ family, friends, and loved ones,” according to a statement issued by CSP-Corcoran.
Funeral services have not yet been announced.
