Valley State Prison (VSP) personnel specialists decided to have a little fun on Boss’s Day in fall 2024 with a special gift.
To show their appreciation to Personnel Supervisor Mary Solis, they got creative and presented her with a plaque of pictures to make her smile.
A few weeks before Boss’s Day, the VSP personnel specialists dressed alike and took some funny photos to make her a memorable gift.
When Solis opened the gift, she burst into laughter.
“These moments at work are important in our life,” said her staff.
The six personnel specialists include Anita Rodriguez, Stephanie Mayo, Jessica Berdejo, Lucille Orozco, Brooke Kimbley, and Tara Bettencourt. According to the institution, these staff give it their all each day.
“They are each responsible to take care of over 200 employees’ regular pay, overtime pay, raises, benefits, bonuses, retirements with lump sum and deferrals, etc. These duties can be overwhelming, but it has brought this team closer together. With a supervisor like Mary Solis, they feel supported and heard,” according to the institution.
