Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP) at Soledad celebrated 30 years of service with a successful anniversary celebration. The Oct. 14 event brought together more than 1,000 current employees, retirees, community members and local partners.
The event recognized three decades of dedication, teamwork and commitment by the men and women who have served Salinas Valley State Prison since its opening in 1996.
The celebration began with opening remarks from Warden Kelly Santoro, who recognized the contributions of past and present employees and the important roles they have played in shaping the institution’s history.
Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez followed with remarks and presented a special proclamation recognizing Salinas Valley State Prison’s 30th anniversary and its years of service to the community.
Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, food and opportunities to connect with fellow employees and community partners. Numerous local vendors and organizations, including the Soledad Library, participated in the celebration, providing valuable resources, information and services.
The Salinas Valley Coalition played a significant role in supporting the event by providing complimentary meals to staff, who were able to choose from three local food vendors. The coalition’s contributions helped make the celebration a memorable experience for everyone in attendance.
The event also provided an opportunity to recognize retired employees whose years of dedication helped establish the foundation of Salinas Valley State Prison.
The success of the celebration was made possible through the combined efforts of institution staff, volunteers, community partners, local businesses and the Salinas Valley Coalition.
The 30th anniversary served as more than a celebration of the institution’s history. It was an opportunity to recognize the people behind its success, strengthen community partnerships, and demonstrate appreciation for employees who continue to serve every day.
Salinas Valley State Prison and the Salinas Valley Coalition extend their sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to making this milestone celebration a tremendous success.
As Salinas Valley State Prison enters its fourth decade, the institution looks forward to building upon its history of service, teamwork, professional development, and community involvement.
