On The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Royal Ramey discussed his time on an incarcerated fire crew and how he’s now helping others.
Ramey is the co-founder and CEO of the Forestry and Fire Recruitment Program (FFRP). The non-profit organization trains incarcerated persons to prepare them for forestry careers.
Aside from training, they also assist with job placement in the US Forest Service, CAL FIRE, Bureau of Land Management, and other forestry agencies.
Ramey regularly visits California conservation camps to discuss reentry and the opportunities available to the incarcerated population.
