PACT meetings offer reentry resources

For people just released to parole supervision, an important reentry resource is the mandatory Parole and Community Team (PACT) meeting.

For many, having spent years to decades in a CDCR institution, reentering their communities can be intimidating. They are looking to successfully reintegrate back into society. This includes finding jobs, going back to school, finding recovery and healthcare services, and ultimately, staying out of prison.

Watch the video (story continues below):

Thankfully, Division of Adult Parole Operations (DAPO) hosts PACT meetings across the state. These meeting connect the supervised population with vital resources needed to get back on their feet.

Erik Tinoco, Parole Agent III with DAPO’s Community Reentry Unit, explains the benefits of these meetings. He said they also produce a number of success stories.

“(PACT meetings are) a continuation of your rehabilitation,” said supervised person Benjamin Brown, who found success after utilizing the resources at his first meeting.

He recommends each supervised person attending these meetings has a plan for what you know you will need as it pertains to transportation, housing, employment, and more.
