Staff from the Division of Adult Parole Operations (DAPO) Community Reentry Unit (CRU) recently toured the Pomona Day Reporting Center.

The center is a contracted CDCR non-residential reentry facility run by GEO Group. They serve people on parole supervision to help them prepare for reentry.

Pomona GEO is staffed seven days a week, offering a variety of resources, including substance abuse treatment, vocational training, domestic violence classes, transitional housing, and referrals for additional reentry resources.

Program Manager M. Hill explained that the center uses all of their contracted transitional housing. Part of their success is due to collaborating with DAPO parole agents within the district.

Additionally, the Domestic Violence classes remain one of the most well-attended programs within the center.

“Participants show the motivation to change,” said Hill.

During the tour, the CRU staff met J. Pulido, a former participant of the Pomona Day Reporting Center. He successfully graduated from the program and discharged from parole in 2023. Pulido currently runs his own landscaping business and continues to return to the center to offer job leads to people who are looking for employment.

“I come back to help people,” Pulido said. “There was a point in my life when I had no one to help me.”

The Pomona center also offers the program participants interview clothing, personal hygiene products, and household supplies as needed.
