Actor Danny Trejo recently spoke to 70 participants at the Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) in Los Angeles.
For those in the MCRP, Trejo understands their rehabilitation journeys, having spent time in multiple California prisons. After his incarceration, he has since dedicated his life to helping his community and those battling drug and alcohol addiction.
Trejo shared his journey and the struggles he faced while growing up in Los Angeles. He focused on the root causes leading to his prior incarceration as well the challenges he faced overcoming addiction. He emphasized everyone has the potential to be a better person and make better choices in life.
Organizers thanked Trejo for visiting the MCRP as well as MCRP provider Amity Foundation for hosting the event.
MCRP is a voluntary program for eligible males who have two years or less of their prison sentence left to serve. This allows eligible people committed to state prison to serve the end of their sentences in the community. MCRP is facilitated by the Division of Rehabilitative Programs.
