The Correctional Training Facility (CTF) at Soledad is mourning the passing of Correctional Counselor Annie Covarrubias. She passed away May 13, 2025.
Services will be held May 30 in Salinas (see details below).
She began her distinguished career with the department as a cadet at the Basic Correctional Officer Academy in December 2013.
After graduating, she reported to Salinas Valley State Prison as a Correctional Officer.
Covarrubias recently transferred to CTF in March 2025, where she served as a correctional counselor until her untimely passing.
“Throughout her career, Annie was highly respected for her unwavering professionalism, genuine compassion, and dedication. She was not only a valued colleague but also a devoted friend and a loving mother, cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we grieve this profound loss, we kindly ask all staff to keep Annie and her family in your thoughts during this challenging time,” according to CTF.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., May 30, at Cristo Rey Church in Salinas.
