This month, Visions Adult School at California State Prison-Corcoran saw 80 students graduate various educational and career programs.

Staff and families were invited to watch as the incarcerated students earned degrees, diplomas and certificates from college, high school, and career technical education programs.

Peer Literacy Mentor Program tutors from each yard were also recognized for their ongoing support for the students.

Facility 3A recognized 22 graduates and Facility 3B recognized 25 graduates, while Facility 4B recognized 33 graduates.

This once-a-year celebration marks the culmination of hard work and dedication to growth. Each ceremony opened with a video highlighting graduates from the yard who shared their experience and thanked staff for supporting them.

Acting Chief Deputy Warden A. Guillen encouraged the graduates to continue their rehabilitative journey through learning.

“Education opens doors not only to careers or higher learning, but within. Shifting mindsets, building new paths, and rewriting narratives. Let this be the beginning, not the end. Keep going, keep learning, keep believing,” Guillen said. “You’re just getting started.”

Administration, education, and custody staff spent the afternoon celebrating with graduates and their families. They enjoyed pizza, cake, punch, music, and photo opportunities.

“We are honored to be a part of each success story and witness the transformation these students make,” according to a statement by Visions Adult School staff.
