Dave Voytek, a retired correctional officer with 24 years in the department, passed away July 13, 2025.

Voytek began his career as a cadet at the academy in 1980. After graduating, he reported to San Quentin in December 1980.
Six years later, he transferred to California Correctional Center in Susanville.
In April 1988, he transferred back to San Quentin, where he remained until retiring in August 2004.
“He will be deeply missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time,” according to San Quentin.
Details regarding funeral services are not yet available.
