The Delano community reached out to Kern Valley State Prison (KVSP) for help with supplies to help kids go back to school. KVSP staff stepped up to support the cause.
The Community Resources Office sent the request to employees and almost immediately, staff responded.
Donations consisted of colored pencils, pens, crayons, folders, paper, pencils, markers, binders, and other fun school accessories.
The event was held Saturday, July 26, in the gym of one of the local schools. The community really came out to support the event.
Over 400 kids attended the event, loading their backpacks to them ready for school.
