Parole staff assist at Los Angeles reentry event

Parole staff attend a Los Angeles reentry event April 24, distributing information to attendees.
In Los Angeles, DAPO Community Reentry Unit Parole Agent III J. Harris and Parole Administrator B. Mendoza provided information to participants.

Staff from the Division of Adult Parole Operations (DAPO) was on hand for the Los Angeles Regional Reentry Partnership (LARRP) event.

The Beyond Barriers: Building Reentry Bridges to Housing and Public Safety Reentry Resource Event brought together property managers, housing leaders, and justice-involved individuals for a day of community engagement and support.

Held in Compton, the April 24 event fostered connections while providing critical reentry resources to support successful reintegration. Parole staff from the Community Reentry Unit participated in the Los Angeles event, offering resource information.

Approximately 150 attendees connected with 40 community-based organizations to learn about a wide range of services. These included housing assistance, employment opportunities, financial literacy education, an on-site expungement clinic, family reunification support, and other program resources.

“Events like this are vital,” a LARRP representative noted. “They help remove barriers and build bridges for individuals reentering society, giving them a real chance to thrive.”

The event was made possible through the support of key sponsors, including:

  • Creating Restorative Opportunities and Programs (CROP)
  • Californians for Safety and Justice
  • Brilliant Corners
  • and the Los Angeles County Justice, Care and Opportunities Department.

Reentry resources remain a critical component of public safety and community wellness. Helping justice-involved individuals rebuild their lives benefits society as a whole, according to organizers.
