Rubin Guerra, retired correctional sergeant

Rubin Guerra, a retired correctional sergeant, passed away Aug. 27, 2025. He retired in 2020 after 22 years of service.

Guerra began his career with the department in 1998 as a correctional officer at Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy.

He was promoted to correctional sergeant in 2007 and assigned to the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in Galt. He remained at the training center until his 2020 retirement.

“Rubin will be remembered as having great passion and dedication to his responsibility as a training instructor to ensure that his cadets were aware of and be prepared for the challenges of what they signed up for. Rubin will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him,” according to his coworkers.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Oct. 26 at IDOL Brew Works, 100 S. Sacramento St. in Lodi.
