Pleasant Valley prison staff tour MCRP‑Fresno

Pleasant Valley State Prison warden and staff toured the Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) in Fresno on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025.

Pleasant Valley State Prison Warden Jerry Ourique and his management team toured the newest Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) in Fresno on Friday, Sept. 26.

The MCRP Fresno 100-bed facility was activated Aug. 4.

Correctional Counselor III Pedro Sanchez opened the tour by welcoming prison staff and thanking them for their eagerness to learn more about the MCRP.

Sanchez provided pertinent information and an overview of the day-to-day operation of an MCRP.

As part of the tour, they met with the MCRP staff at the facility and visited the employment and education resource center, dining hall, courtyard, participant rooms, visiting area and the playground.

A current Fresno MCRP participant, previously housed at Pleasant Valley, shared his journey. He also thanked prison staff who had a positive impact on him.

“The Division of Rehabilitative Programs (DRP) would like to thank Warden Ourique for bringing his staff to MCRP Fresno,” according to a statement issued by DRP. “A special thanks to all staff who attended and everyone who helped make the tour a success.”
