Jerome Warfield, retired correctional sergeant

Jerome Warfield, a retired correctional sergeant, has passed away, according to an Oct. 6 notice issued by the Correctional Training Facility at Soledad. Services will be held Oct. 28 (details below).

Warfield began his career with the department in April 1980 as a cadet. After graduating the academy in June, he reported to the Correctional Training Facility at Soledad as a correcti0onal officer.

Warfield then promoted to correctional sergeant in January 1985 and continued to serve with dedication and professionalism until he retired in August 2010.

“Throughout his 30 years of service, Sgt. Warfield was a valued member of the Correctional Training Facility family. He was highly respected by his peers, subordinates, supervisors, and managers alike for his integrity, leadership, and commitment to the department’s mission. His presence, mentorship, and friendship left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working alongside him,” according to the institution. “Sgt. Warfield will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his colleagues and the many lives he touched. Our sincerest condolences are extended to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Funeral services will be held Oct. 28 at 9:30 a.m., California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery, 2900 Parker Flats Road, Seaside.
