Joseph Baros, a retired correctional sergeant, passed away Oct. 8, 2025. Services will be held Oct. 27.

Baros began his career as a correctional officer trainee at Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy in March 1984. After graduating, he reported to California Institution for Men in April 1984.
In January 2007, he was promoted to sergeant where he remained until retiring in 2012 after 28 years of service.
“Correctional Sgt. J. Baros will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and working side by side with him. Our sincerest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time,” according to the institution.
Services will be held Monday, Oct. 27, at Drapers Mortuary, 355 E. 9th St., in Upland. Viewing will be at 10:30 a.m., services at 11:30 a.m., and burial at 1 p.m.
