Ben Oliveros, a retired associate warden from RJ Donovan Correctional Facility (RJD), passed away Aug. 20, 2025.

Oliveros began his career with the department in December 1974 as a correctional officer at the Correctional Training Facility (CTF). In July 1982, he promoted to correctional sergeant at the California Institution for Women and transferred back to CTF as a sergeant in May 1983.
Oliveros was then promoted to correctional lieutenant at CTF in April 1985. Then, two years later when RJD was activated in 1987, he transferred to the new institution.
In May 1989, he took a position as correctional counselor II (CCII) and then CCII supervisor in October 1990.
He was promoted to captain at RJD in June 1994. Oliveros then promoted to associate warden at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison in December 1999. He transferred to RJD as an associate warden in March 2004, where he remained retiring in December 2005.
“Ben Oliveros will be remembered by all his family and friends here at RJD,” according to the institution. “We thank him for his service and dedication.”
