CDCR recruiters visited two Sacramento events in December including a job fair and an Army holiday gathering.
Recruiters visit Sacramento career fair
The CDCR Peace Officer Recruitment Unit (PORU), in partnership with the Specialized Recruitment Unit (SRU), participated in the Sacramento Career Fair held Dec. 11.

The event, hosted by Best Hire Career Fairs, provided an opportunity to engage directly with individuals interested in careers in public service and law enforcement.
The recruitment booth served as a hub for conversations about custody and non-custody careers, the hiring process, training, and advancement opportunities within CDCR.
Recruiters shared firsthand knowledge and answered questions, offering job seekers a clear understanding of career pathways within the department.
The collaboration between these two recruitment units highlighted entry-level opportunities and specialized career options available throughout CDCR. This gives attendees insight into long-term growth and professional development.
Specialized Recruitment Unit Manager Martina Espinoza emphasized the value of community outreach through career fairs.
“Career fairs like this allow us to engage with the community while sharing the wide range of career opportunities available within CDCR,” Espinoza said. “These events help connect motivated individuals to meaningful careers in public service.”
Recruiter connects with military community

Meanwhile, on Dec. 13, CDCR Sgt. Hector Garcia participated in an Army holiday party tabling and presentation event at the Okinawa Armory in Sacramento.
Sgt. Garcia, an active Navy member and Air Force reservist, engaged with military members and their families in an informal setting. He shared his personal experiences transitioning from military service to a career with CDCR and discussed the benefits available to veterans and reservists. These include veterans’ preference, post-9/11 G.I. Bill benefits, and career stability within CDCR.
Garcia reported strong interest from those who stopped by his table. He said several said they would explore career opportunities and begin the application process. The event provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen CDCR’s outreach within the military community and reinforce pathways for service members seeking a transition into law enforcement careers.
