Volunteers from High Desert State Prison in Susanville were busy ringing bells for charity as part of the Battle of the Badges.
The annual bell-ringing challenge pits local law enforcement agencies against each other to see who comes out on top for donations. Funds raised for the Salvation Army stay in Lassen County, assisting community members in need.

“It is truly the most wonderful time of the year,” said High Desert organizers. “On one day, each year, all local law enforcement agencies gather in front local businesses ringing the bell to see who can raise the most money.”

This year, High Desert State Prison administration staff raised over $1,500 for the community.
