Mule Creek State Prison donates $23k to charities

Staff from Mule Creek State Prison donates funds to charities, including a science came at Ione Elementary School.

Mule Creek State Prison food sales generated $23,157, resulting in donations to several charities.

The donations demonstrate the prison’s strong commitment to supporting the community through charitable giving. Food sales involve staff facilitators and the incarcerated population.

Proceeds from Mule Creek’s third quarter food sale benefited several charities. These organizations provide vital services to children, families, and animals throughout the region. In addition, Mule Creek has committed to making an upcoming donation in support of the Special Olympics.

The funds raised were distributed to the following community partners:

  • $8,000 donated to Ione Cops for Kids, supporting programs that assist children and families in need, particularly during the holiday season.
  • $4,156.87 donated to Ione Elementary School to help fund science camp, giving students the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning and educational enrichment.
  • $4,000 donated to the A-PAL Humane Society, aiding in the care, shelter, and adoption of animals within the community.
  • $2,000 donated to the Center for Fathers and Families, an organization dedicated to strengthening families through education, support services, and fatherhood engagement.

Additionally, Mule Creek will be donating $5,000 to the Special Olympics. The donation expands the prison’s outreach by supporting athletes with intellectual disabilities and promoting inclusion, teamwork, and community engagement.

“Mule Creek State Prison remains proud to partner with local organizations and looks forward to continuing its tradition of service and support through future fundraising efforts,” said prison organizers.
