High Desert State Prison (HDSP) in Susanville celebrated their second promotional ceremony recognizing individual achievements of those staff members advancing their CDCR careers.
The ceremony served as a testament to the dedication and accomplishment of the individuals being recognized, according to organizers.
In all, 25 staff members were acknowledged for the hard work and dedication to the department. Promotions included correctional captains, lieutenants, sergeants, counselors, and other specialized positions. Each were presented with certificates of promotion to their new roles.

Division of Adult Institutions (DAI) Director Gena Jones and acting Warden K. Thornton congratulated those being recognized. During their speeches, they reinforced values of commitment, excellence and dedication. They also talked about the importance of continuing to learn and strive to be better every day. Most of all, they thanked the family members for their support of CDCR employees off duty.
Staff were also honored by DAI Facility Operations Deputy Director J. Benavidez, DAI Facility Support Deputy Director P. Eaton and DAI Region I Associate Director J. Tuggle. Each expressed their strong support for the employees and their accomplishments.
“It was amazing to have our families here,” said one newly promoted staff member. “They don’t get to see what we go through every day. It made me very proud receiving this accomplishment in front of them.”
