PVSP mourns passing of Pedro Longoria, staff member

Pleasant Valley State Prison is mourning the passing of Pedro Longoria, supervisor of vocational instruction. Longoria passed away April 26, 2026. He worked for the department for 28 years.

“He was a treasured employee and friend to many at PVSP and will be greatly missed by his friends and co-workers,” according to the institution.

He started his career with the department in March 1998 at Central California Women’s Facility as a vocational instructor for Small Engine Repair.

Longoria then promoted to supervisor of vocational instruction at Kern Valley State Prison in July 2007. He then transferred to PVSP in May 2010 where he has remained until his passing.

“We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Pedro Longoria’s family, loved ones, and friends during this difficult time,” according to PVSP.

Viewing will be held 4:30-6:30 p.m. May 11 at Salser & Dillard Creighton Chapel, 1588 Lincoln St., Kingsburg.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. May 12 at Kingsburg Community Church, 1532 Ellis St., Kingsburg. This will be immediately followed by interment at the Kingsburg Cemetery, 12782 E. Clarkson Ave., Kingsburg.
