Robert Stanley, Jr., retired correctional officer

Robert Stanley, Jr., a retired correctional officer, passed away Aug. 31, 2026.

He worked for the department for 23 years before retiring in 2020.

Stanley began his career with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in May 1997 as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in Galt. After graduating from the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to Deuel Vocational Institution (DVI) in Tracy. He remained at DVI until his retirement in August 2020.

“Officer Stanley is survived by his wife, brother, sister, three children, nine grandchildren and a host of family and friends to cherish his memory. Our hearts go out to Officer Stanley’s family during this most difficult time,” according to a note from California Health Care Facility in Stockton. “His family will remain in our thoughts and prayers for the loss they have endured.”

A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Ambler’s Club, 2000 Amblers Lane in Stockton.
