Konnie Morrison, retired correctional supervising cook

Konnie Morrison, a recently retired correctional supervising cook, passed away Sept. 14, 2026.

Morrison began her CDCR career at Pelican Bay State Prison at Crescent City in August 2015.

“Konnie was a beloved pillar of her local community and workplace. She brought unparalleled dedication, warmth and joy wherever she went,” the institution wrote. “Throughout her tenure, Konnie’s work ethic and infectious positive attitude left an indelible mark on the institution. She worked diligently in the kitchens of two yards at Pelican Bay. Eventually, she was convinced to take on the vegetable room in the Main Kitchen.

“While her official title was correctional supervising cook, she was so much more to everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her. She was the very definition of kindness, care and unconditional love. She naturally stepped into a motherly role for many of our staff, always wearing her heart on her sleeve. Konnie never hesitated to lift someone up, lend a helping hand or offer a comforting hug to a colleague in need. Konnie retired a little more than six months ago in March. She may have left state service, but the profound legacy of her love, leadership, and generous spirit remains permanently woven into the fabric of Pelican Bay State Prison.”
