Michael Corrigan, retired M&SS II

Michael “Butch” Corrigan, a retired materials and stores supervisor (M&SS) II, passed away Oct. 14, 2026. He worked for the department for over 30 years.

According to his family, he passed away following a courageous battle with brain cancer.

He began his career with the department at Mule Creek State Prison (MCSP) in Ione in June 1987 as a materials and stores supervisor.

Corrigan promoted to M&SS II where he continued serving the institution until his retirement in July 2019.

“Throughout his career, Butch played a valued role in supporting the institution and its daily operations. Following his retirement, Butch continued to stay active in the community. He was also a dedicated San Francisco Giants fan. Above all, cherished the time he spent caring for and making memories with his grandchildren. His love for his family was an important part of who he was,” reported Mule Creek State Prison. “Butch’s years of service and dedication to MCSP will not be forgotten. He was a valued member of the MCSP family. His passing is a loss to all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. His legacy of service and the memories he leaves behind will remain with those whose lives he touched.”
