Daisy Mata Cena, retired RN

Daisy Mata Cena, a retired registered nurse (RN), passed away Sept. 20, 2026. She worked for the department for 24 years.

She began her career with the department at in March 1998 at California State Prison, Corcoran.

In January1999, Cena transferred to North Kern State Prison at Delano where she worked until retiring in June 2022.

“Daisy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time,” the prison stated.

Visitation services will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Oct. 9, at Funeraria Del Angel Delano, 707 Browning Road, Delano. A celebration of life will be held the following day from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the same location.
