Ralph Yniguez, retired M&SS

Ralph Joseph Yniquez, a retired materials and stores supervisor (M&SS), passed away Aug. 30, 2026. He was 84 years old.

He began his career at the Correctional Training Facility at Soledad in July 2000. Yniguez remained at the institution in the same position until retiring in August 2013.

“Please keep Ralph’s family, friends, and former colleagues in your thoughts during this difficult time,” the institution wrote.

Yniguez was a lifelong resident of Gonzales and was involved in serving his community. He also served in the Army National Guard and was active in numerous community organizations throughout his life.

His service included the Monterey County Housing Authority Committee and the county’s Health Initiative in addition to many Gonzales groups including the Cemetery District, School Site Council, Recreation Commission, Planning Commission and the City Council. He also served at the city’s mayor pro tem.

Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church in Gonzales. A reception will follow at the American Legion Hall, 419 5th St., Gonzales.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in his memory be made to the Veterans Transition Center in Marina.
