Harry Lee Crawford, a retired correctional officer, passed away Aug. 28, 2026.
Crawford began his career with the department as a cadet in January 1996 at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in Galt. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy in February, he reported to Calipatria State Prison.
He then transferred to California Institution for Men at Chino in April 2000. He remained at institution until retiring in June 2006. Crawford dedicated over 10 years of service to the department.
“Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time,” according to the institution.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., Oct. 24 at the American Legion Hall, 124 N. Ramona St., Hemet.
