Rosetta Scarbrough, retired supervising cook

Rosetta Scarbrough, a retired supervising cook, passed away Sept. 10, 2026. She was 86 years old. Scarbrough worked for the department for 27 years.

She began her career in 1979 as a supervising cook with the California Youth Authority (the Division of Juvenile Justice).

Scarbrough later transferred to California Medical Facility in Vacaville where she remained until retiring in 2006.

“We extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Rosetta’s family, loved ones and friends during this difficult time,” according to the institution.

Services will be private.
