Wasco State Prison-Reception Center (WSP-RC) Honor Guard and recruitment staff took part in a fall National Night Out.
Hosted by the Wasco Police Department, the evening began Oct. 1 with WSP-RC’s Honor Guard presenting the colors during the opening ceremony. The team also posed for a photo with the city’s newly crowned Rose Queen, honoring Wasco’s longstanding tradition of vibrant and expansive rose fields.

Throughout the event, members of WSP-RC’s recruitment team engaged with community members, sharing information about the diverse career opportunities available within CDCR. While many are familiar with peace officer positions, attendees learned CDCR also offers a wide range of non-custodial careers requiring various professional skill sets.

Most importantly, staff had meaningful interactions with residents who expressed their appreciation for CDCR staff. Many residents said they understood the responsibility CDCR employees carry in overseeing incarcerated individuals and helping keep California communities safe.

WSP-RC staff also connected with representatives from neighboring police departments who were present at the event, exchanging valuable information and strengthening partnerships.
Wasco residents enjoyed the evening with food from various vendors, anti-DUI campaigns and drug awareness resources. There was also live music in a well-organized, family friendly environment showcasing the strong collaboration between community partners and public safety agencies.
