Vincent Edwards, a retired correctional lieutenant, passed away Feb. 9, 2024. He worked for the state for 30 years.

He began his career with the California Youth Authority, Division of Juvenile Justice in 1986 at the Fred C. Nelles Youth Correctional Facility.
He promoted through the ranks to sergeant in 1997 and lieutenant in 2000. He then transitioned to CDCR in 2010, where he remained as a lieutenant at California Institution for Men, retiring in 2016.
“He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and working side by side with him. Our sincerest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time,” according to a statement issued by California Institution for Men.
Services will be held March 28, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Mountain Zion Church, 224 West California St., Ontario. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. at 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier.
