Tracy Vasquez, a retired correctional officer from Pelican Bay State Prison, passed away April 1, 2024.

She began her career as a cadet in October 2006. After graduating the academy, she reported to Pelican Bay State Prison in February 2007. In September 2007, she transferred to North Kern State Prison.
She worked there until August 2013, when she transferred to California Correctional Center in Susanville.
She returned to Pelican Bay in April 2015, where she remained until retiring in September 2023.
“Many knew Tracy both personally and professionally. Tracy was respected by her peers and a well-loved member of the Pelican Bay State Prison family. She was a good friend, partner, and a good human being. She will be missed by all. We extend our most sincere condolences to Correctional Officer Vasquez’s family, friends and loved ones,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
